Switch text between sentence case, title case, upper, lower and more.

Fix capitalisation in one click

Text copied from a PDF, a spreadsheet or a design file often arrives in the wrong case. Shouting caps in a support email, title case applied to a paragraph, or snake case that should be camel case for an API field.

Paste the text, choose a style, and copy the result.

The styles available

  • Sentence case. First letter of each sentence capitalised.
  • Title case. Main words capitalised, small words left lowercase.
  • UPPERCASE. Everything capitalised.
  • lowercase. Everything lowered.
  • camelCase. First word lowercase, following words joined and capitalised. Common in JavaScript.
  • PascalCase. Every word capitalised and joined. Common in class names.
  • snake_case. Words joined with underscores. Common in Python and SQL.
  • kebab-case. Words joined with hyphens. Common in URLs and CSS.

When to use which

Headings. Sentence case is easier to read and is the default in most modern style guides. Title case suits editorial and legal documents.

Code. Match the convention of the language and the codebase. Snake case in Python, camel case in JavaScript, kebab case for CSS class names.

URLs. Kebab case, because search engines treat hyphens as word separators and underscores as joiners.

Database columns. Snake case is the most portable across systems.

A warning about automatic title case

Automatic title case cannot know that iPhone, NASA, McDonald or eBay have deliberate capitalisation. It also cannot tell a preposition from a verb in every sentence. Run the conversion, then skim the result for names and brands.

If you are checking length for a meta title or description, Word Counter gives you the exact character count. For structured data, JSON Formatter is a better fit.

Questions

Frequently asked

What is the difference between title case and sentence case?

Title case capitalises the main words in a heading. Sentence case capitalises only the first word and proper nouns. Most modern style guides prefer sentence case for headings.

Which words stay lowercase in title case?

Short articles, conjunctions and prepositions such as a, an, the, and, or, of, in and to, unless they are the first or last word.

Does it handle names and acronyms?

It cannot know that iPhone or NASA should keep their unusual capitalisation. Check those manually after converting.

Is my text stored?

No. Conversion happens in your browser.
