Split PDF
Pull pages out of a PDF or break a long document into separate files.
Take a PDF apart in seconds
A long PDF is often several documents stapled together: a report with its appendix, a scanned bundle, a contract with schedules. Splitting it should not require a desktop application or a monthly subscription.
Drop the file above, choose what you want to keep, and download the result. The work happens on your machine, so a confidential document stays confidential.
How to split a PDF
- Add your PDF.
- Choose a mode. Extract pages keeps the pages you type. Split every page turns each page into its own file.
- Enter pages such as
1,3,5-8if you are extracting. - Press Split PDF and download the result.
When you split every page, the files are delivered as a single zip so you are not clicking twenty download buttons.
When splitting a PDF is useful
- Sending one chapter to a colleague without the rest of the report.
- Removing a signature page from a scanned contract.
- Turning a scanned booklet into individual pages for OCR.
- Separating invoices that were exported as one file.
What happens to your file
Nothing is uploaded. The split uses a PDF library that runs inside the browser tab. There is no server copy, no temporary storage and no account. If you close the tab before downloading, the document is gone.
Need to put files back together afterwards? Merge PDF does the reverse in one step.
Frequently asked
Can I extract just one page?
Yes. Enter a single page number, such as 4, and you will get a one page PDF back.
Can I split a PDF into many files at once?
Yes. Choose the split every page option and each page becomes its own PDF inside a zip file.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The split is done in your browser. Your document never leaves your device.
Does splitting change quality?
No. Pages are copied, not re-rendered, so text and images stay exactly as they were.
What page formats can I type?
Use commas for separate pages and a dash for ranges. For example, 1,3,5-8 gives you page 1, page 3 and pages 5 through 8.
