QR Code Generator
Turn any link or text into a clean QR code you can download and print.
Enter a link or some text to generate a code.
A QR code that keeps working
Many free QR generators create a code that points at their own redirect service. The code works until the service changes its pricing, adds a paywall, or shuts down. Yours should not depend on us.
This generator encodes your data directly into the image. Once downloaded, the code works forever and does not need a server, an account or a subscription.
How to create a QR code
- Choose a type: link, plain text, phone number, or Wi-Fi network.
- Enter the details.
- Set the size and margin.
- Download as PNG or SVG.
For print, use the SVG and size it in your design tool. For a poster, a 1,000 pixel PNG is usually enough at A4.
Good uses for QR codes
- Restaurant menus. A code on the table that opens the menu directly.
- Business cards. A link to your site or contact card.
- Wi-Fi sharing. Guests scan and join the network without typing a password.
- Event check-in. A code that opens a registration form.
- Product packaging. A link to instructions or a warranty page.
How to make a QR code that scans reliably
- Keep the data short. A long URL creates a dense pattern that some phones struggle with.
- Leave a clear margin around the code. The default setting does this for you.
- Use dark ink on a light background. Inverted codes fail on many scanners.
- Print at least 2 cm square for close viewing, larger for posters.
- Test the printed code with two different phones before you order 500 of them.
If the destination URL contains a token or a long query string, shorten it first. A stable short link also makes the code simpler and easier to scan.
When you are ready to secure the account behind the link, Password Generator creates something strong. For encoding data inside a URL, Base64 Encoder is the right tool.
Frequently asked
Do these QR codes expire?
No. The code is generated in your browser and contains your data directly. There is no redirect service, so there is nothing to expire or shut down.
Can I change the link later?
No. A static QR code holds the data itself. If you need an editable destination, you need a dynamic QR service with a redirect.
What is the best format to download?
SVG for print and design work, because it scales without blurring. PNG for screens and quick sharing.
How much data can a QR code hold?
Up to about 4,000 characters, but shorter is better. Very dense codes become hard to scan with older phones.
Will it work with any scanner?
Yes. The output uses standard error correction and follows the QR specification, so any modern phone camera can read it.
